Fleur Oceanie

 

The Tiare flower is the emblem of Pacific Islands and Oceania.

The Erythrina crista-galli is called ceibo locally, or bucaré Seibo.It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. In the latter two countries, the flower is the national flower of ceibo.

The Protea is the flower of South Africa. Its name comes from the Greek god Proteus who could change shape at will, as this magnificient flower to surprising change shapes and colors.

 ALDABRA

Aldabra was discovered in 1511. This is the largest atoll in the world, located in the Seychelles.

It is of volcanic origin. Reefs that constitute it appeared there 125,000 years ago .These coral formations are located on top of a submarine volcano. Different layers of coral appear confirming the theory that the island was submerged at two or three times, according to variations in sea level.

Each time, the terrestrial fauna has completely disappeared, then reappeared. This is a wild atoll whose lagoon  has a diameter of 35 km and covers an area of 100 sq. km. Sea turtles, sharks and rays enter and leave the rhythm of the tide. With their protection, the population of giant turtles now stands at 120,000, they are the last of the Indian Ocean.

Jacques-Yves Cousteau was the first man to study the ecosystem of Aldabra by attending it in 1954 aboard the Calypso. There he turned the majority of the "Silent World" images.

Natinal Park Virunga  stands by its chain of active volcanoes and its rich diversity habitat, with its range of steppes, savannas and plains lava, swamps and lowland forest,afro-mountain vegetation to its unique afro-alpine and icefields of the Ruwenzori mountains whose peaks rising to over 5 000 m. The  large diversity of habitats resulted in exceptional biodiversity including endemic species, rare species and globally endangered as the mountain gorilla. It hosts also he highest concentration of hippos of Africa, with 20,000 people living along rivers Rwindi, Rutshuru and Semliki.
